A would-be burglar is stared down by a pet cat during a foiled theft… before ending up being collared.
Mark Lawson, 42, was caught by CCTV cameras on all fours peering through the window of a property he was casing in Nottingham.
In the footage, after Lawson crawls on all fours up to a door, a ginger moggy is seen glaring back at him through the glass.
The stunned owner of the home witnessed the face-off live through a mobile app from his upstairs bedroom.
He quickly remotely activated the property’s burglar alarm, sending Lawson fleeing from the scene.
He was soon arrested nearby.
Lawson admitted attempted burglary and was given a 12-month suspended sentence when he appeared at Nottingham crown court.
The failed burglar, of The Meadows, Nottingham, was also handed a six-month suspended term for three counts of handling stolen goods.
Det Con Christopher Copley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said the offender had been “foiled only by modern technology”.
